Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026. This page explains what data Handiwork collects, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Overview
Handiwork ("we," "us," or "our") operates handiwork.tools and provides free online tools through your web browser. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit or use our website.
Most Handiwork tools are designed to run in your browser. For those tools, the content you enter is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us unless a specific tool page states otherwise. You do not need an account to use Handiwork.
Information we collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Usage and device data. Pages visited, referring URLs, browser type, operating system, device type, language preferences, approximate location derived from IP address, and similar technical data.
- Log data. Server logs that may include IP address, timestamps, and request metadata needed to deliver the site and maintain security.
- Communications. Information you choose to send us by email or through our contact page, such as your name, email address, and message content.
- Cookie and similar technologies data. Identifiers and preferences stored via cookies, pixels, or local storage, as described below.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through our tools, and we ask that you avoid submitting passwords, financial account numbers, government ID numbers, or other highly sensitive data unless a tool explicitly requires it for a local-only operation.
How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain Handiwork
- Understand how visitors use the site and improve our tools
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and protect against abuse
- Respond to inquiries and support requests
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
We do not sell the content you enter into our tools, and we do not use it to build advertising or marketing profiles. We do, however, use third-party analytics and advertising services that may collect usage and device data through cookies and similar technologies, as described in the "Cookies" and "Advertising" sections below. Under some U.S. state privacy laws, the use of advertising cookies and identifiers may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; see "Your rights and choices" for how to opt out.
Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis — for example, under the GDPR — we process personal information based on: (a) your consent, where you have given it; (b) our legitimate interests in operating and improving Handiwork, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights; and (c) compliance with legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to remember preferences, measure traffic, and support site functionality. These may include:
- Essential cookies required for basic site operation and security
- Analytics cookies that help us understand how the site and individual tools are used, so we can improve them
- Advertising cookies that may be set by advertising partners to measure ad performance and show relevant ads, where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law
- Third-party cookies set by partners that provide hosting, analytics, advertising, content delivery, or other services integrated with the site
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect certain features. Where required by law, we will provide additional controls or notices before placing non-essential cookies.
Third-party service providers
We may share information with trusted third parties who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, infrastructure, analytics, security, and customer support. These providers are authorized to use your information only as needed to deliver their services to us and are expected to protect it in line with applicable law and contractual obligations.
Our site may include links to third-party websites or embed content from other services. Those destinations have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
Advertising
We may display advertising provided by third-party networks, such as Google. These partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to measure ad performance and, where permitted, to show ads relevant to your interests. To do this, they may collect information about your visits to this and other websites over time. We do not share the content you enter into our tools with advertisers.
Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential advertising or analytics cookies. You can also control ad personalization at any time through Google's Ads Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance, or Your Online Choices in Europe.
Data retention
We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Log and analytics data are typically kept for a limited period and then aggregated or deleted.
Data security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International visitors
Handiwork may be accessed from countries around the world. If you visit from outside the country where our servers or service providers are located, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your own.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and to receive a portable copy of information you provided. Residents of certain U.S. states may also have rights to know what personal information is collected, to opt out of certain sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.
To make a request, contact us through the contact page. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority where applicable.
Children's privacy
Handiwork is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes may be communicated through a notice on the site. Your continued use of Handiwork after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
