About the Handiwork GPA Calculator
The GPA Calculator computes your grade point average on a standard 4.0 scale from course letter grades and credit hours. Add or remove courses, mix grades from A+ through F, and see your weighted GPA update instantly — useful for students tracking semester or cumulative performance.
How to use the Handiwork GPA Calculator
- Add each course with its credit hours and letter grade.
- Include as many courses as you need.
- Read your GPA, total credits, and total grade points.
How GPA is calculated
Each letter grade maps to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.). Multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, sum those products, and divide by total credits. Weighted by credit hours, a four-credit A counts more than a one-credit A.
4.0 scale grades
The calculator uses the common US scale including plus and minus modifiers (A-, B+, etc.). Schools sometimes use different scales; verify your institution’s policy if you need an official transcript GPA.
